No Kings, Only Makers

Northeast Avistan is crumbling into war. Can you create a polity which guarantees prosperity and stability in these tumultuous times?

A Game About Imperialism, Revolution, and the State
Art by Dana Bergman

"When we see among the happiest people in the world bands of peasants regulating the affairs of state under an oak tree, and always acting wisely, can we help feeling a certain contempt for the refinements of other nations, which employ so much skill and effort to make themselves at once illustrious and wretched?"

-Rousseau, The Social Contract

Play the legendary Kingmaker campaign using Pathfinder 2nd edition! We will be using the Kingdom rules with modifications that aim to make them more enjoyable, in addition to rules which integrate Battlecry's Skirmish system with Kingmaker's Warfare system, enabling you to wargame epic battles using Pathfinder 2e's combat system. I have also added a variety of lore-friendly content to the module which aims to situate the Stolen Lands and the River Kingdoms into the broader setting of Golarion, with an interest in the prehistoric inhabitants of the land and the Taldan imperial expansion. The module has been refocused on themes that are already present in Kingmaker, with an eye towards issues of political responsibility, anti-authoritarianism, and colonization. Custom companions have been added in order to help flesh out these themes. Many modules, such as Wrath of the Righteous, Iron Gods, and Carrion Crown also take place nearby and the outcomes of those modules will ripple out and affect your polity.

Beginning in the year 4710, the Player Characters have received an invitation from Lady Jamandi Aldori of Restov, Brevoy to expel bandits from the Greenbelt, a heavily forested area of the Stolen Lands south of Brevoy, and settle the territory with your own government. Lady Jamandi is concerned about the stability of Brevoy after an important noble house opposed to the current king vanished, and is looking to establish a friendly corridor between Brevoy and Mivon, a state created by Aldori Swordlords who fled Brevoy many years ago. To this end, she insists that no one in your party have more authority than any other, or as she put it in her invitation letter, "In this land there will be no kings, only makers". While it is evident that your state will be a colonial extension of Restov for Lady Jamandi's political interests in Brevoy, it offers you an unparalleled amount of freedom and power. However, it begs the question, 'Why have the Stolen Lands remained unsettled by the powers of the region thus far?'

Creating your character

Character Creation will take place on Session 0, which is free. I prefer to create characters within Foundry, but I can also import sheets from Pathbuilder. If we import a sheet from Pathbuilder, it may not have certain desired automatons or effects. You are welcome to select any Rare or Uncommon character creation options, provided that you can explain how they fit together in your character. You are encouraged to fill out a questionnaire for your character to help anchor your character within the themes of the setting: https://drive.proton.me/urls/4M0FDADRT4#wdtXHLfpSUER. Characters will receive the benefits of the following Character Creation Variant Rules from the GM Core: Ancestry Paragon Free Archetype Gradual Ability Boost
