PTU: The Social Ecology of Kanto
Kanto needs heroes to stand up against fascism and the society that produces it, winning the world for all people and Pokemon.
This game will use the familiar setting of Kanto for a new, character
focused campaign. It will use the concept of social ecology, or the
relationship between society and nature, to explore the mysteries of
Kanto. It will be an adventure filled with mystery and camraderie;
battles and victory. Players will travel across Kanto to collect the 8
badges while fighting the exploitative Team Rocket and the xenophobic
Team Sovereignty. We will have a balance between roleplay and combat.
Many subplots and characters for this game have been inspired by postwar
Japanese cinema, particularly the films of Akira Kurosawa and Satoshi
Kon. I have also likewise taken inspiration for some of the villains
from the contemporary Japanese far-right ecology and imperial
restoration movements.
I have run this adventure before and I have polished it to a nice shine.
However, I always strive to adapt this campaign to new characters, so
you can expect that this campaign will be tailored to the characters in
it.
Creating your character
Characters will be created during Session 0 and I will walk you through character creation. If you join after Session 0, we will meet separately to create characters before the first session. At session 1, Trainers will begin at level 1 and they may have 1 starting Pokemon at level 5 from any generation of Pokemon; this Pokemon must have the Underdog Trait. If you join after the first session, your trainer and Pokemon will scale to the rest of the party. The game will use the PTU 1.05 core rulebook as its foundation, supplementing it with the changes made by the (PTR) team. Content from Game of Throhs will be used, and will eventually become accessible to player characters. All of these resources will be made available upon joining the game and we will navigate the complexity of these rules together; there's a lot to keep track of and we should support each other to get the best possible play experience.

The Social Ecology of Kanto Recommendations
Players can alter their recommendations at any time.
Jordan is a rising star when it comes to running PTU games. He's committed to learning the game and bringing out the best parts of the system, while having interesting stories and goals to pursue for the players. He strives to make every player have the spotlight and his mediation skills are getting better with every game. He's one of my favourite GMs to play with, and his "Classic Kanto" games are a hit if you want to relive your childhood. Don't count out this underdog, he's got the juice
Jordan is great! I had no experience playing PTU but he expertly guided me through it (and continues to do so), he really really knows the rules but allows and encourages players to get creative and adapt things according to their own creative vision (within the rules). Also, I'm a very shy and introverted person, but my games with Jordan have quickly become a very comfortable space for me, in which my nervousness takes a break for a while. You can also tell how much time and effort he puts into every single little detail in his campaign, which continues to impress me every session, so all in all I can totally recommend Jordan! :)
This was the first Pokémon untied game I ever played and it has so far been a blast. Jordan is incredibly patient when it comes to new players and helped to build our characters from the ground up. The questionnaires were really fun to fill out as it helped to flesh out my character as well the Pokémon we added to our teams. I tend to get overstimulated if a system has too many rules to keep track, but honestly I have yet to experience it with Jordan's game. Also to add on, the philosophy and talks about environmental sociology has been an intriguing aspect I wouldn't believe was applied to the world of Pokémon. However, it works to better flesh out the world, and makes the players think about whether to catch certain Pokémon to add to their team, or to leave them be to balance out the ecosystem. I've been enjoying being a part of this world a lot and I honestly am so happy our group wanted Jordan as our DM.
Jordan is a fantastic GM! This is my first time playing PTU, and he has been wonderful at explaining the game mechanics and helping out in general. The vibe has been great, and I've enjoyed learning and playing PTU immensely. 🎉
Jordan has been a fantastic DM to play under. His creativity and worldbuilding has breathed new life into Pokémon’s Kanto region in our PTU game. He is patient and understanding with new players and receptive to feedback. I’ve never had an issue in one of Jordan’s games and will be happy to play in others in the future.
